Our School Aims

At St. James' C of E Primary School, within the context of a Christian framework, we aim for each child to:

  • reach their full potential in their academic and broader development. We aim to provide enjoyable and appropriate challenge in their learning with individual strengths developed and individual needs met. We aim to teach our children how to think and learn for themselves. We aim to work in partnership with parents and carers.

  • learn through a rich and exciting curriculum in a supportive, stimulating and safe environment. We aim to provide well resourced learning experiences and to ensure that behaviour is consistently positive.

  • develop as a confident, well rounded individual who has a growing ability to meet life's challenges. We aim to encourage children to be considerate, caring and accepting of others with a clear sense of moral values and spiritual awareness.
  • be safe, happy and healthy, adopting a positive lifestyle. We aim to teach children how to make informed life choices.

  • make a valuable contribution to both the school and the wider community. We aim for our children to be proud of their school and to help them to become useful citizens as they grow and develop. We aim to make our pupils aware of wider social and environmental issues.

  • benefit from being taught and cared for by an effective and happy work force. We aim to recruit high quality staff, providing training of a high standard. We aim to work well as a team, fulfilling our roles.

It is our aim that the above principles should be applied at all levels throughout the school community.
